KEPID shares responsibilites with the power generation industry by operationg and maintaining some power plants across the nation.
Ever since KEPID has begun the operation of coal loading and unloading in 1992, the corporation has been accumulating know-how and expertise in such business as operating ash treatment facilities, running KEPID owned railcars and maintenance of coal treatment facilities. Based on experiences and technology, KEPID became the first company to operate desulfurization system in 1998. KEPID not only contributes to the development of the electric power industry, but also have a reputation as an environment-friendly business.

- Operation of Coal Treatment Facilities
- KEPID is in charge of operating various types of equipment which are used to store unloaded coal from ship unloaders of coal thermal power plants and KEPID-owned railcars. Carrying coal to supply boilers from coal yards to coal silo based on each day’s plan is also a part of KEPID’s responsibility. And KEPID takes care of overall auxiliary jobs such as protecting coal stocks from changing to arsenic, any possible losses, spontaneous combustion and drops in the process of transportation in addition to operating heavy construction equipment and railcars exclusive for Donghae thermal power plants.

- Operation of Ash Treatment Facilities
- Coal ash caused by burning coal inside the boiler is gathered from four places : the bottom of the boiler, economizer, air preheater and electrostatic precipitator. KEPID operates special equipment that carries raw ash to the raw ash silo for recycling, or to the ash pond for reclamation.

- Operation of flue gas desulfurization facility
- In the boiler, the SOx contained in the exhaust gas during combustion is removed by using absorption, adsorption, oxidation, and reduction principle of SOx contained in the combustion gas generated by burning coal.

- Operation of Wastewater treatment facility
- This is a treated wastewater that is discharged during operation. It is processed completely through physical and chemical processes such as flocculation, neutralization, sedimentation filtration, adsorption, etc. to completely treat fluorine (F), COD, heavy metals and suspended solids (SS).

- Operation of KEPID-owned Railcars
- KEPID is commissioned to operate its own railcars and locomotives to transport coal to Donghea Thermal Power Plant. Also, KEPID takes care of the maintenance of the designated railroad, its own railcars, locomotives as well as loading and unloading coal from carriers.
